Smartchip S30x Series tuner RFIC is designed for digital direct broadcast satellite (DBS) TV applications. Its operating frequency range extends from 950MHz to 2150MHz, which covers American, European and Asian satellite TV band. The direct-conversion tuner includes a low noise amplifier (LNA), RF/BB variable gain amplifiers (RF/BB VGA), I/Q down-conversion mixers and channel-selection filters with cutoff frequency adjustable. Together with the demodulator's AGC control signal, RF/BB VGAs provide more than 90 dB gain control range. The device is also integrated with a fully monolithic synthesizer, which could be driven by crystal or external oscillator. The chip is configured via I2C interface.
